With over 20 years of experience in insurance management, finance and business advising, Bowen Smith, licensed insurance agent and financial advisor is at the helm of Merit Harbor Advisors, LLC in Louisville, KY.
Bowen loves working with our clients, both new and seasoned. The opportunity to work alongside families and businesses, knowing that what he does is creating peace of mind against potential losses - with an eye to client budget and always the best possible practices - is why he does this work.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Bowen holds a B.A. in Political Science and Urban Studies from the College of Charleston and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. When he isn't working for you he's having a great time with his family - and if he's lucky they are all in, on or near a large body of water.
Ellen Sloan, RHIT, comes to Merit Harbor from a background in bank document processing, accounting and medical records technology.
Ellen graduated from Jefferson Community College with a Health Information Technology degree, from Lindsey Wilson College with a degree in Professional Counseling and operated a grassroots non-profit for children living under the realm of addiction recovery. She now sits on the board of the Smoketown Family Wellness Center, is a member of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth and volunteers time with a local mission for the homeless.
Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Ellen loves traveling. She writes poetry, paints rocks and considers cooking to be her therapy - which her 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, ( and co-workers ), thoroughly appreciate!
Amy joins Merit Harbor with a background in non-profit and finance work. She is also a small business owner with the insights and experience that comes from many years of having employees and being responsible for the company's bottom line.
Amy's perspective from the non-profit world is a unique one in insurance. She may be new to the industry but has navigated the consumer and commercial side for some time and for many entities. She comes to us with a push to find more creative and equitable insurance avenues for redlined communities and an appreciation for the way in which we already do business.
Born and raised in Northern Indiana, Amy has called Louisville home since graduating from Hanover College. She and her family love spending time outside and she especially loves gardening and her burgeoning homestead. Amy is also a shareholder with New Roots, Inc. a local non-profit near and dear to her heart, igniting food justice for fresh local food access in our region and beyond.
